The pieces were delightfully unwearable. She is Dutch, but not blonde. I totally get the overall colour palette; it reminded me of the false-front buildings lining the canals of her current hometown. Her work conjured thoughts of McQueen; the exhibit revealed that she, in fact, did intern there. She is utilizing technology to make her work. As someone that has a lot of experience 3D printing for commercial purposes; I'm here to tell you they do a lot of work pre-print and post-print. 3D printing is magic, but these enormous pieces require assembly. To the ROM: I'm getting used to the fashion exhibits on the 4th floor. So... A few weeks back I was posting to my social, doing a throwback to the Chanel Couture Fall 2006 Show; specifically citing the denim boots. They were so good. They still are. FYI Denim boots are hot again. Remember Rihanna's Manolo Blahnik denim boots that attached at the waist with a belt? No. Currently they are display at the Bata Shoe Museum. Versace showed denim boots in their Resort 2019 Collection. Recently Jenny From the Block got a lot of attention for wearing said boots. Some people said it looked like her pants had fallen down. Insert eye roll emoji here, or déjà vu response re: Rihanna boot-gate. Back to denim boots themselves. Versace or Chanel; I feel like there are always comparisons to be made house to house about redoing a 'thing', like denim boots. I think the trick is if you do it better, or with a twist, you are okay to reboot. I don't love the heel on the now infamous JLo denim boots. They are a little too wine stem-like for me. Karl's denim boots were a little more western. I like that. His were a block of a heel with a slight taper to the floor. I am really into the scandi cowboy vibe right now, so the Chanel ones are it for me. All that being said Versace showed shorter white denim boots in the same collection earlier mentioned, and I could get down with that style. They reminded me of these deadstock denim short boots I had once. They actually never fit me, the boots were too small, but I had to have them, so I got blisters every time I wore them. You know what I am talking about. We are all guilty of buying too small or too big just cause we have to have it. Denim boots are not for everyone. I love the fabric, I love the fit. I love the matching overcoat. I---want---this---suit. The Fall 2018 Couture show by Dior was fantastic, but I really drooled when this, and one other metallic suit came slithering down the runway. They were sleek and timeless. If you can afford couture; buy this suit. It would look good on anyone. It would look good on a hanger on the wall while you eat the ramen noodles you are forced to eat, cause you spent 100k on this suit. Despite the cost of this suit I am an advocate for more women to wear pants. God bless the Duchess of Sussex for wearing pants. You don't see a lot of the female royal family members wear pants in the public eye. Women take wearing pants for granted. Thank Coco Chanel and her peers for paving the way. A quick Google search credits Suffragette Elizabeth Smith Miller as being the first woman to wear pants. I don't know what I would do without pants.
